AUTHOR'S HISTORY

My first contact with the I Ching was many, many years ago.

In 1989, I was 22 years old and I had no commitment to mystical study, not through my family or friends, just teenage playings.

By "luck" these [[[playings]]] are also valid contacts!

At the time, I was working and studying engineering. Was looking for a direction for my life. I have always been curious, studious, and self-taught.  At a certain moment I started an unconventional relationship.

There were several questions asked to the I Ching about this relationship and the answers had an incredible relationship to the situation.

As I read the questions and the answers, I began to make calculations.

My background in mathematics always calls for a logical answer. And the probability that an answer from the I Ching corresponds to a question is at most 0.0156%, that is, much less than 1%!

From this experience, I began my I Ching studies (and continued my dating!).

The study model I adopted was to intersperse the unpretentious reading of the texts with questions from my everyday life. Even today I like to study the texts in a more traditional way, without having formulated a question.

It was worth every investment I made and have madeing since then.

I can say that I am very influenced by the I Ching - at no time in a blind way - but having the texts always induced me to have more balanced attitudes, more appropriate to the situation, to be persevering and maintain righteousness.

I always like to put that there were answers to questions that I understood immediately, however, other times I had to reflect for days, weeks and even years.

Some points impress me a lot: an answer makes sense a few days after the question was asked; in these more than thirty years of dedication I have not seen an incoherent answer or two contradictory answers, and; consulters of the same understanding receive the same pattern of answer.

I bring here another personal example - for a period of fourteen years, I asked questions about the same work situation and always received congruent answers.

Or examples of people who brought similar questions and by synchronicity, the result of the consultation always presented the same answer.

I believe that this philosophical study makes me a better person. My story is under construction and I hope that from now on you will also be part of it, and this project, of your journey.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank the four great sages (Fu Hsi, King Wen, Duke of Chow and Confucius) who wrote the I Ching texts, and to those who have managed over the centuries to spread the knowledge of these texts to the present day.

I also thank the people who have stayed close to me throughout my journey and others who have participated in a very important moments. I emphasize how lucky I am to have remained curious and persevering.
